World Of Wrestling

Roland Barthes’ “The World of Wrestling” compares professional wrestling to a performance rather than a sport.  He explains it’s a form of theatre, where characters embody clear heroes and villains, creating dramatic narratives. Barthes views wrestling as a myth, reflecting societal values through good and evil. The appeal to the viewer is not in the sport itself, but the emotion conveyed through storytelling and the moral conflicts it presents. It’s a popular culture that provides entertainment.

Item of Clothing Evaluation

I have picked one of my t-shirts from the brand Collusion. A t-shirt is one of the most versatile items of clothing as it can be dressed up or down depending on occasion. They are an easy item of clothing for self-expression while giving a great level of comfort and safety.

It was made in Turkey and is 100% cotton. While this is considered a natural and biodegradable fibre, it can still be considered bad for the environment when grown conventionally due to its high-water usage, pesticide reliance and impact on local water suppliers. "Organic cotton" is a much more environmentally friendly choice.

Sustainability is one of the biggest topics in the fashion industry and Collusion make huge efforts to reduce their environmental footprint by using organic cotton to adopting recycled fabrics. This commitment resonates with the brand’s target audience of the more youthful.

Collusion is known for its bold, inclusive, and often experimental approach to design, this clothing brand has been making waves in the fashion world by catering to a diverse range of individuals. It was launched by ASOS with the desire to offer something new and inclusive, driven by self-expression. The core of their philosophy is all about celebrating diversity, whether that’s gender, size or personal identity. It was designed to be a gender-neutral brand with no boundaries between “men” and “women.” In addition to this, they are also successful in size inclusivity, offering a range of sizes in their collections (2xs to 4xl). They focus on fit, comfort and variety making sure there is something for everyone that makes them feel confident and stylish.

The t-shirts I have from Collusion are a strong staple in my wardrobe and will continue to be. They are versatile for movement, comfort and easily complete an outfit.
