The Brief: Complete a range of analogue and digital tasks introducing the impact of colour, demonstrated below.
Colour Theory
Primary Colours:
Red
Yellow
Blue
The three pigment colours that cannot be mixed or formed by any combination of other colours.
Secondary Colours:
Green
Orange
Purple
The colours that are formed by mixing primary colours.
Tertiary Colours:
Yellow-orange
Red-orange
Red-purple
Blue-purple
Blue-green
Yellow-green
The colours that are formed by mixing a primary and a secondary colour.
Colour Wheel
This was one of the few times I've experimented with acrylic paint. The mixing of red and blue wasn't highly successful during this attempt.
Colour to Communicate
Doing this task was an eye opener to how colour combinations can have a huge effect on imagery and mood. When looking at colour theory in the library, I found a book that went into more detail on colour relationships and the mood they create.
Designing with Type
The most important factor I was considering when making these designs was the balance of colour against font. The bolder fonts were heightened by brighter colours, whereas the delicate fonts where supported more by paler colours.
